Then main ports to start your yacht charter in the Aeolian Islands are Milazzo, Portorosa and Capo d’Orlando. You can also opt to embark in Palermo, located on the western coast of Sicily or in Tropea, in Calabria, closer to Stromboli. The Aeolian Archipelago is wonderful for a sailing week, composed by 7 stunning volcanic islands you can dedicate day by day. 

Embarking in Milazzo, the first island you reach is Vulcano (just 15 nm): the spots not to be missed are the Horse Grotto (Grotta del Cavallo in italian), the Venere Pool, the Black beaches, Gelso (you can have lunch at Trattoria da Pina, in this case we can reserve it in advance), Spiaggia dell’Asino. Between Vulcano and Lipari there the amazing cliffs (called Pietra Menalda and Pietralunga and it’s wonderful to enjoy it at sunset). Lipari is the biggest island, i would recommend to spend one night there. The best beaches are Spiagge Bianche, White Beaches, Pumice Beaches, Cala Fico and Canneto. The most exquisite restaurants are Aurora and Filippino.

Then proceed to Salina, where you must stop for lunch at Alfredo restaurant, to taste the “granita” and “pane cunzato” (seasoned bread). If you stop there for the night, dinner at Il Delfino. Rent scooters in Salina (i would love to assist you with it) to enjoy the island and visit Malfa, Lo Scario, Pollara (amazing both by sea and by land), Santa Marina and Rinella.

Then proceed to Panarea (great for kids for its famous disco pub, the Raya). This is the smallest island, so lovely. The best way to enjoy is definitely by the sea, by boat. There are many amazing coves and bays, as Basiluzzo, Lisca Bianca, Dattilo and the famous Cala Junco.

In Stromboli i would recommend 2 days (1 night) to enjoy the island by land and by sea. At happy hour/dinner time go with the yacht in front of the Sciara del Fuoco to enjoy the volcano that lights up the night sky and enjoy this unique spectacle. Absolutely not to be missed!

The wildest islands are Alicudi and Filicudi, simply wonderful for their coves and grottos, like Grotta del Bue Marino.
