What is exactly a flotilla?
The idea behind a flotilla is very simple: it is a group of boats (generally sailing boats but also catamarans) which, starting from the same boarding point, decide to sail in a group along a shared route and a common itinerary.
Each boat has onboard its own skipper (and a possible crew) able to follow the route traced by the leader boat, generally governed by an expert skipper of the area who knows the sea and the coast in which you are going to sail.
This way of surfing offers many advantages. Among them, the main one is aimed at those skippers who have not yet gained much experience at sea but are eager to rent a boat. A flotilla allows them to enjoy the freedom to personally pilot their own boat while having the security of not being left alone and having quick support from experienced personnel.
Does the flotilla limit my desire to sail freely?
Describing the characteristics of a flotilla can seem almost like an organized voyage on the sea where each vessel must faithfully follow the others without margin of independence. This may seem like a limitation.
In reality, this is not the case. Each captain is free to follow the itinerary the way he thinks best. It is obvious that choosing this type of trip generally means wanting to stay in the group, but at the same time, each boat is, therefore, free to stop maybe one more night in a certain port or stay longer on the beach.
Why is it ideal for large groups of friends?
The flotillas were born with the idea of combining the experience of a boat holiday with the possibility of doing it in the company of a close-knit group capable of bringing joy and party desire in any location you decide to stop.
