Why should you choose St. George as your Grenada marina?

Founded in the mid-seventeenth century, the capital still has characteristic elements of French architecture, of which it was a colony for a long time before the English domination, of which, on the other hand, the Georgian style can be glimpsed. The name of the city is in fact dedicated to King George III.

St. George landscape is varied, and is made up of hill formations and volcanic structures. The best way to visit the city is to do it on foot, perhaps by starting to explore the port area. Here it is in fact possible to reach the top of Richmond Hill, from which to enjoy a breathtaking view while visiting Fort Frederick, an English fort dated 1791 that dominates the city. Staying on the subject, the ancient Fort George cannons that guard the port entrance are also worth a visit.

Among the city’s points of interest certainly includes Market Square, commercial heart of the town. Here in colonial times slaves were sold while today it is a lively market full of stalls of artisans and farmers who sell the land colorful local products, from exotic fruits to spices such as nutmeg.

Also worth a visit is Young Street where the Grenada National Museum is located inside an old French barracks of the early eighteenth century. It is one of the oldest structures in Grenada and has also been used as an English prison over the centuries.

Of course, being a Caribbean island, there is no shortage of beautiful beaches suitable for both relaxation and for surfers and snorkelers. Just a few kilometers south of the city is Grand Anse, a very long white beach bordered by palm trees, one of the most beautiful in Grenada.
