10 Days yacht charter itinerary from the South of France to Rome

A 10-day cruise in which to enjoy the summer heat but also the spectacular landscapes, cultures, and historical riches that have made this stretch of sea famous all over the world.

  • Day 1 -> Nice

Nice is one of those cities that truly amazes me.

Visiting Nice is strongly recommended because, in addition to the mild temperature and picturesque views, the city is rich in historical evidence that is reflected in its palaces and squares and from which a strong link with neighboring Italy is also established.

If you have more time available, perhaps going down here a day before departure, we recommend that you dedicate some of your time to visit its historic center or some museum such as Matisse, which is located outside the center, or the MAMAC, the museum of modern and contemporary art.

Your itinerary begins in the morning, meeting the crew in the marina and after a short briefing. The first hours of navigation take you along the coasts of the Côte d’Azur, to let you admire the local beauties while you take a seat on the boat.

  • Day 2 -> Monaco Principality

The first stage of the journey can only be the center of luxury and elegance. The Principality of Monaco and its iconic district, Montecarlo, represent the hub of the international jet set that gravitates to these areas.

Among imposing palaces and high fashion boutiques it is very easy to be enchanted by the glitz, especially for those who visit it for the first time.

In the Montecarlo district, the beating heart of the city-state, examples are the “Belle Epoque” style Casino and the renowned marina, always full of sumptuous moored yachts.

Spend the day visiting the little kingdom and then finish the day with a fantastic dinner at one of the restaurants overlooking the bay.

  • Day 3 -> Portofino

We enter Italian waters from the main gate, arriving in the beautiful village of Portofino, a tiny and ancient fishing village located on the north-western coast of Italy, characterized by pastel-colored houses perched on the promontory, exclusive shops, and fish restaurants overlooking a beautiful square connected to the marina, which always hosts large boats and luxurious yachts.

Famous all over the world as a synonym of elegance and Italian “dolce vita”, Portofino is a place that, despite being very exclusive and extremely touristic, is not lacking in authenticity and splendor.

In addition to the aforementioned square, called “la Piazzetta”, a visit to the village cannot be considered complete without walking through the narrow streets, characteristic of the place and full of artisan shops and boutiques. Do not miss the path that leads first to the Brown castle and then to the Punta di Capo lighthouse, whose panoramic point will leave you speechless.

  • Day 4 -> Italian Riviera – “Cinque Terre”

From Portofino we skirt Italy sailing further east, up to the famous “Cinque Terre”.

This area is dominated by a group of ancient fishing villages located along Italy’s rugged northwestern coast. Each of these is characterized by colorful houses and vineyards clinging to the steep terraces carved into the rock.

Their small harbors are crowded with boats of all kinds and in the typical “trattorias” of the area, it is possible to taste the specialties of the Ligurian tradition such as the famous Pesto.

These very picturesque and colorful medieval villages each boast unique characteristics. It is therefore really worth visiting Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.

If you are in the mood for walking, the blue path, a hiking path that stretches along the coast and connects the villages of the Cinque Terre, offers splendid views of the sea and the landscape.

You will certainly be enchanted by the beauty of these places which since 1997 have been declared a national park and a UNESCO heritage site.

  • Day 5 -> Elba island

On the fifth day of navigation, we head south with our rental yacht, first along the Tuscan coast and then heading offshore to reach Elba island.

Elba is the largest island in the Tuscan Archipelago and is the favorite destination of yacht charterers in the Tyrrhenian Sea as it offers a series of safe landings, beaches, and magnificent landscapes.

Easy to reach, this island is able to satisfy the needs of all its visitors.

One of the most appreciated aspects by those who go on a boat holiday to Elba is the numerous coves sheltered from the winds, which make up the entire coast of the island and which are characterized by a crystalline and clean sea that leaves all its visitors enchanted by the numerous shades of water.

Among the most practiced sports are diving and snorkeling. In fact, its rich seabed hosts numerous fish species. Lovers of the outdoors can instead spend time on land by hiking and mountain biking, playing golf or relaxing in the spas.

  • Day 6 -> Porto Vecchio

Leaving the island of Elba behind us, we return to French territorial waters, heading towards the south of Corsica. Here, between coves, beaches, and lagoons, is Porto Vecchio.

The third city on the island after Ajaccio and Bastia is an enchanting village of Genoese origin very popular and crowded with tourists especially in the summer thanks to the presence along its coasts of some of the most beautiful beaches on the island.

A village with a glamorous image, Porto Vecchio boasts a historic center with very “chic” stone houses and alleys, also appreciated by famous people and VIPs of the moment. Tourists and locals love to stroll along the beautiful rue Borgo, the main street of the historic center, between Corso Napoleone and Piazza Della Repubblica, where, especially in the summer season, thousands of people enliven the days, crowding the many hotels, restaurants, and numerous souvenir shops. Then move to the marina area, where much of the nightlife is concentrated thanks to the presence of many discos, cocktail bars, clubs, and pubs.

  • Day 7 -> Bonifacio

Along the coast of Corsica, we travel west along the short stretch of sea that separates Porto Vecchio from Bonifacio.

Perched atop spectacular white limestone cliffs plunging into turquoise waters, this historic city at the tip of Corsica has in recent years become an important center for

The small village of just 2,600 inhabitants, overlooking the famous “Bocche di Bonifacio”, the sea, often altered by the winds, which separates Corsica from Sardinia.

Bonifacio has an important past told by churches, monuments, ancient buildings, and numerous historical testimonies dating back to 6,500 years ago while today it lives mainly on tourism, which is very lively during the summer.

The coves scattered among its cliffs are innumerable. Among the many sandy beaches, we recommend Rondinara beach. With its shell shape, it is made up of fine sand and overlooks a shallow, turquoise sea.

  • Day 8 -> La Maddalena

The famous archipelago of La Maddalena is located off the equally famous Costa Smeralda, on the north coast of Sardinia.

It is made up of 7 magnificent major islands (La Maddalena, Caprera, Budelli, Santo Stefano, Santa Maria, Spargi, Razzoli) and several smaller islets, all bathed by a wonderful and transparent sea.

We arrive early in the morning in the town on the main island, La Maddalena, from which the name of the homonymous archipelago derives.

A favorite destination for lovers of boat excursions, swimming, and the crystal clear sea, its waters are blue and the surrounding landscape is breathtaking and surprising. The flagship and symbol of the city itself are its wonderful coves and pink beaches.

La Maddalena, as well as the other islands that make up the archipelago, is part of a protected marine and terrestrial area. The most famous and beautiful beaches of the island itself are countless, among the most noteworthy are Abbatoggia, Bassa Trinità, and Cala Francese.

  • Day 9 -> Porto Cervo

We move a few nautical miles from La Maddalena to reach Porto Cervo.

The undisputed capital of the Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo was a small, wild and inaccessible corner of paradise until just over fifty years ago.

This charming seaside resort was literally “designed” and built starting from the mid-twentieth century by the Ishmaelite prince Karim Aga Khan who, together with a handful of rich and powerful visionaries, began a process of economic development to enhance the entire area coastal. On poor land and without infrastructure, exclusive hotels and sumptuous villas began to rise, which soon made Porto Cervo the most sumptuous and fashionable summer resort in all of Sardinia.

Do not miss the wonderful Porto Cervo Marina, made up of two separate areas: the old port, built in the 1960s, but still functional, where large pleasure boats land, and the new and well-equipped tourist port, whose construction is more recent ( dating back to the 1980s) and filled with prestigious boats or incredibly large and luxurious yachts moored on the quay.

  • Day 10 -> Rome (Ostia)

We finally get to the end of our journey arriving in Rome.

Our landing place will be at the Tourist Port of Rome, in the municipality of Ostia, a short distance from the historic center of the Italian capital.

From here you will be free to visit the length and breadth of the “eternal city” and get lost in its millenary history.
