To do this we have defined some questions that we usually ask our customers to answer to allow us to select the boats that best suit their requests, evaluating alternatives and dispelling any possible doubts:

When will your Balearics yacht vacation take place?

The climate of the Balearics is typically the Mediterranean, therefore temperate and pleasant, especially in the summer months. It is no coincidence that the typically Mediterranean olive, fig, vine, and almond trees are grown on these islands.

It does not rain a lot: the average of the coastal towns of the various islands fluctuates between 400 and 600 millimeters per year, although violent storms with floods in the autumn and winter months are not very rare.

The rains are almost all concentrated between November and April while between May and October it rains very little.

Average temperatures are classic. In the warmer months, the average of the minimums along the coasts oscillates between +20 and + 22 ° C, while that of the maximums reaches + 30 ° C. In winter, however, the average of the minimum drops down to + 8 ° C and that of the maximum down to + 15 ° C.

ibiza-mallorca-formentera-yacht-charter-pricesIn inland areas, of course, it is colder and it rains more. In winter it can also happen to see snow, especially on the hills of the Serra de Tramuntana, sometimes even at the hilly altitudes or exceptionally up to the coasts.

The ideal period for a boat trip to the Balearics is therefore late-spring, summer, or early autumn, considering that in July and August the islands are very crowded with mass tourism and that temperatures tend to be quite hot while in May, June and September are warmer and more pleasant, with widely lower prices but stable climatic conditions, perfect for a holiday in the heart of the Mediterranean.

It is definitely doubtless that booking a trip during the high season (July – August) will result in higher rental commissions while doing so during less touristy periods can mean better conditions and discounts.

Early booking offers are also a good choice to save money. By booking in large advance you can save up to 20% on the full price.

Similarly, choosing a last-minute booking, i.e. within 3 weeks from the departure date, can be a good way to save up to 30% of the list price. However, in this case, there is generally little choice as to the type of boat and accommodation on board.

What kind of boat do you need?

It is clear as a higher kind of boat corresponds to a higher charter fee.

Of course, according to the number of guests who get on board, you will need a different kind of boat and this will highly affect the price. The type of boat you want to charter must meet your needs, both in terms of comfort and in terms of space required.

In general, there are three main types of boat, as follows:

  • Motor yacht
  • Catamaran
  • Sailboat

It may seem obvious, but much of the cost incurred for renting a boat (anywhere in the world) depends on the type, size, and age of the vessel you want to rent.

In general, we can say that motor yachts are the most expensive boats, followed by catamarans and then sailboats. The average weekly rental price for a medium-sized catamaran is between 2,000 and 3,000 euros per day, based on its size and whether it is a power or sailing catamaran.

Finally, it is important to consider that, for the same size, a newly built boat will have a higher rental cost than one that is already dated, with price differences that can sometimes be quite significant.

Will you be sailing alone or with a crew onboard?

The choice of whether to have a crew on board or not and, if so, what kind of it, is a crucial aspect that affects the charter final cost.

Basically, it depends on two main factors. The first concerns whether whoever hires the boat owns a nautical license. The second is instead linked to the size of the chartered boat.

Generally, self-steering a boat is allowed only for small sailboats or catamarans. This is because, as a rule, for larger size boats brokers require a crew on board even if you are an experienced sailor (even if only a skipper).

If you do not have a skipper license or in any case you do not want to be engaged in the vessel navigation, you will have to budget a fixed daily amount for a skipper and (if necessary) an on-board crew who takes care of the management of the boat at sea and in port.

What will be your Balearic Islands spots itinerary?

The Balearic Islands are synonymous, especially for the youngest, with enchanting beaches and unbridled nightlife but in reality, there is much more. Small hidden coves where you can enjoy maximum relaxation, cities of art that hide incredible masterpieces, small seaside villages with a very pretty appearance, and breathtaking views are just a taste of what you can encounter during a boat trip to the Balearics.

Majorca is the main island of the archipelago and a very popular seaside tourist destination. Its main city is Palma de Mallorca, a truly incredible place: among its many beauties, we cannot help but mention the Cathedral of Santa Maria. The Seu, as it is commonly called by the Spaniards, overlooks the sea which gives it a breathtaking view. Another popular tourist spot is Port de Soller, once an old fishing village. Today it is an area equipped with every comfort: hotels, restaurants, and many shops offer visitors a wide choice, while unspoiled nature unfolds behind it. Among the most evocative landscapes of Mallorca, we find Cala Sa Calobra, a small cove hidden among the rocks and which rises at the mouth of the Torrent de Pareis. A true natural monument of incredible beauty. Given its position, the cove is difficult to reach even on foot, thus becoming an almost exclusive location for those who experience it by boat.

The island of Ibiza is perhaps the most touristic one: dream beaches and numerous nightclubs have made it so famous. Among its countless destinations, nestled between the white cliffs is Cala d’Hort, a fantastic beach whose true beauty lies in the panorama. From here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the mysterious island of Es Vedrà, a limestone spike that emerges from the crystalline waters a couple of kilometers from the coast. The islet is completely uninhabited and full of lush vegetation and has always been surrounded by myths and legends.

In Formentera, on the other hand, there are some of the most beautiful beaches in the entire archipelago. The Migjorn coastline, 5 km long, is a paradise of coves lapped by wonderful blue waters. One of these is Es Arenales, a crescent of golden sand surrounded by dense vegetation of pines and shrubs. Its sandy and shallow seabed make it perfect even for the little ones. An absolutely unmissable panorama is instead that of the salt pans of Formentera, inside the Ses Salines Reserve. Towards the end of summer, the salt crystallizes and gives the water a delicious pink color, offering a landscape that is nothing short of breathtaking. The salt flats also welcome the beautiful pink flamingos.

Finally, Minorca is another jewel of the Balearic Islands. Here we can find delightful and uncrowded beaches, real terrestrial paradises. For example Cala Mitjana, a wide sandy expanse, or the enchanting panorama of the smaller Cala Mitjaneta, a tiny golden crescent lapped by crystal clear waters.

It goes without saying that your charter boat itinerary in the Balearics will have a greater cost as the many destinations you want to reach. Especially if they are distant from each other and spread over several islands.

What costs are included and what is not in the charter fee?

The price of chartering a yacht with a crew usually includes the use of the boat for the agreed period and the crew service. When renting a boat, you must always consider the supply costs, the so-called APA (advance provisioning allowance).

It is a lump sum payment that covers all of your onboard expenses during your yacht charter like fuel, ports, food, drinks, etc.). Another cost concern the VAT which is usually to be considered separately from the indicated rental cost.
