The British Virgin Islands (better known as the BVI), located in the Caribbean Sea, is one more paradisiacal than the other. But if you are looking for the real paradise on earth, there is one that really resembles it: Peter Island.
Those who decide to visit Peter Island generally do so by including this destination in a wider charter itinerary in the British Virgin Islands, a wonderful archipelago and perfect for a relaxing holiday on a boat.
BOON NOW YOUR YACHT IN PETER ISLAND
The British Virgin Islands are among the most beautiful and sought-after destinations for boaters in the world and are the perfect setting for spending a magnificent holiday on the waves of the Caribbean sea. Their privileged position allows for smooth sailing throughout most of the year, it offers days that are almost always sunny and above all, it is lapped by the trade winds that always guarantee easy movements and temperatures that are almost never too high. The archipelago consists of more than 60 sandy islands and atolls and the beaches overlooking the Caribbean Sea offer paradisiacal landscapes.
One of the most beautiful islands that you can land on during your BVI itinerary is Peter Island. It is a place where the atmosphere is incredible and ideal for anyone who wants peace and authentic relaxation.
The views that can be admired from its beaches gratify the view thanks to one of the most crystalline seas on the planet. The spectacle offered by nature in this heavenly place is to be enjoyed down to the smallest detail. Peter Island is one of the most beautiful places in the world to choose as a destination for a charter boat trip.
Peter Island is only 4 kilometers from Tortola Island, the main half of the BVI. There are excellent activities to do, such as taking nature trails and hiking expeditions in the hinterland, the island in fact has a total area of 1,800 acres, mostly hilly. The seas also offer a great opportunity to glimpse the various species of turtles that inhabit this region. In addition to turtles, if you love scuba diving and snorkeling you can see the other natural beauties that the sea has to offer.
By the way, the blue sea with regular winds makes Peter Island an ideal destination for both sailing and motor yacht charterers.
Today Peter Island has become popular in yacht charter circles thanks to the fantastic facilities and resorts on the island. Many tourists decide to go to the island to enjoy the natural beauty but also the 5-star treatments reserved for customers, and then leave from here for a boat trip to the other virgin islands.
The 5 beaches and the resort of Peter Island
Peter Island is a private and almost totally uninhabited island. The only exception is the presence of some resorts including a fantastic luxury resort with 52 suites and 3 large villas. An exclusive place to go to enjoy a dream vacation between beauty treatments and regenerative paths.
There are five beaches on the island, each one different from the other, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, or the Sir Francis Drake Channel.
The largest is Deadman’s Bay, a long strip of white sand overlooking a transparent sea like a swimming pool and bordered by a row of palm trees to shelter from the sun. The classic postcard beach overlooks right in front of the resort and is the most convenient to reach. A short distance away is the smaller Little Deadman’s Bay.
Honeymoon Beach is reserved for honeymoon couples. It is a small secluded cove that can be reserved for two people for half a day. Truly the most romantic thing you can do on Peter Island. Here it is also possible to have lunch directly on the beach.
One beach where you can only sunbathe is Big Reef Bay. From the name it is clear that the coral reef arrives right next to the coast, therefore it is not recommended to swim among the corals, but lying down to get a tan is definitely a show.
Finally, White Bay is wonderful and overlooks the islet of Norman Island. Here you can rent bungalows that are sheltered from the sun and guarantee maximum privacy.
Trails, viewpoints, and much more
Peter Island is very little anthropized. Most of the island is uninhabited and there are dirt paths for walking or cycling and discovering the tropical flora and fauna. During the cooler hours, it is easy to find hotel guests walking up and down the promontory enjoying the view of the other islands that make up the archipelago.
On the top, there is even a viewpoint complete with delightful colored wooden armchairs where you can sit and wait for one of the most spectacular sunsets you will ever see. In addition to enjoying the beach in complete freedom, many other activities can be done in the crystal clear waters of Peter Island: from snorkeling to diving, kayaking to water skiing, and windsurfing to fishing.
In this heavenly place, it is also worth discovering what is hidden in the seabed. Armed with a mask, fins, and snorkel, waiting for you there are real coral forests, schools of colorful fish, and lobsters. One of the highly recommended excursions is to discover the wreck of the Royal Mail Ship Rhone, a ship that sank off the island in 1867 during a hurricane. Today it is the most popular dive spot in the BVI.
