Known as a place of extreme beauty since ancient Rome, even today it attracts vacationers from the cities of southern Italy who target it during the summer months. It is no coincidence that ferries loaded with tourists disembark here every day.

Capri is recognizable even in the distance thanks to its high cliffs overlooking the sea that reach and exceed 60 meters in height and fall into the blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Actually, the island of Capri is like an extension of the mountainous and verdant Amalfi peninsula, home to the wonderful Sorrento, Positano, and Amalfi, from which it is separated only by a short stretch of sea.

The stretch to cover with your charter boat is therefore very short: the port of Sorrento is only 20 kilometers away while the capital of the Campania region, Naples, is just 43 kilometers far.

Capri is a small pearl set in a unique setting in the world. Only about six kilometers long and just over two kilometers wide, the island has only two inhabited centers: Capri, which is located on the water, and Anacapri, which instead is located in a higher position.

What makes it so famous? In addition to being one of the favorite haunts of celebrities and the paparazzi who follow them, the island is known throughout the world for its landscapes, natural wonders, and its lush vegetation, real treasures even better appreciated if lived on a boat!

Spots not to be missed aboard a yacht in Capri

Here is the list of unmissable Capri corners during your next visit by charter boat:

The Faraglioni

One of the symbols of Capri in the world, these are three large rocky boulders located just off the coast of Capri, immersed in the blue, they can only be reached by boat.

The highest is 109 meters high, while the one in the middle is crossed by a natural cave that can be traveled by boat. The name “Faraglioni” derives from the Greek Pharos and is due to the fact that large fires were lit here to signal the route to sailors.

All three have a name: the closest to the mainland is called Saetta, the one in the middle is Stella and the outermost one is Scopolo. Scopolo, the outermost Faraglione, hosts together with the top of Monte Solaro the only examples in the world of the blue lizard, which is part of the same family as the common lizard, but which thanks to its isolation and mimicry have taken on the colors of the sea and of the sky of Capri.

The “Piazzetta”

Piazza Umberto I is the worldly heart of Capri and is known worldwide as the “Piazzetta”.

Here we meet to have a coffee, chat, enjoy the view from the terrace and maybe do VIP watching.

Until the last century, the small square of Capri housed the market stalls, while today it is the symbol of the sweet life of Capri and the tables of the bars overlooking the sea and mixing local people, jet-set personalities, and simple tourists.

The main streets for exploring Capri depart from this square and enter the famous Via Camerelle, the shopping street of Capri, where the best boutiques of international brands alternate. Take advantage of a stop here for a happy hour and perhaps for a visit to the historic center.

The Blue Grotto

The famous “Blue Grotto” of Capri has been known since the time of the Roman Emperor Tiberius, who had a passage built from his villa to the Grotto for swimming.

The fame and the name derive from the incredible blue of the waters inside: when the weather is good, the sea seems illuminated by an underwater light and you can see myriads of silverfish swimming under the surface of the water. The entrance to the Blue Grotto takes place with small boats that can accommodate up to four people. The entrance is only one meter high and for this reason, you have to lie down on the bottom of the boat while the boatman grabs the chain anchored to the rock wall and lets the boat slide into the cave.

Beware: The wait to enter the cave, especially in high season, can be quite long. A hat, sunscreen, and water are therefore recommended. The tour lasts about 5 minutes and swimming and diving are not allowed.

Villa Jovis

In the far north-east of Capri are the surprisingly intact remains of the villa of the Roman emperor Tiberius (or Villa Jovis), one of the most grandiose villas built in antiquity. Its ruins rise in terraces on the top of the hill, giving an idea of the size of the villa in which Tiberius is thought to have lived from 27 AD. until his death in 37 A.D. Due to the steep terrain, the villa is divided into several levels, for a total of over 18,000 square meters.

Among the known events of Tiberius, perhaps the most impressive and also cruel concerns the famous “Tiberius’ Jump”. At one of the highest points, where the road ends, there is a cliff of 274 meters from which it is said that the emperor had servants and guests thrown with whom he was not very satisfied.

Mount Solaro

With its 589 meters, Monte Solaro is the “mountain” of Capri and the ideal point to let the view sweep from the island lying at its feet, to the mainland with Naples and Salerno, in front of the boundless blue of the sea.

Many species of birds nest here, including the Peregrine Falcon, and you can admire the flora and fauna typical of the Mediterranean.

Gardens of Augustus

These well-kept botanical gardens cover a tree-lined terrace, where flowers and pergolas frame the view of the Faraglioni rising in the blue-green water below.

Here the gaze is lost while admiring a contrast of green and intense blue and it is enough to lean out a little to see the bay of Marina Piccola and Via Krupp, a walking path that descends in a series of hairpin bends to Marina Piccola, located at about 91 meters below.
